The Southwestern Ontario Poetry Festival is on this weekend in London, ON. Catch a stellar pair of poets at London Music Club—2009 Spoken Word Canada Poets of Honour, in fact—Andrea Thompson and C.R. Avery tomorrow night. Doors open at 7:30; performance starts at 8.  (Read their impressive bios here.) On Saturday, there is an impressive array of free poetry programming–4 Feature Poets, 2 Workshops, 2 Open Mics, and a Youth Slam + Guerilla Poetry!—followed by the London Poetry Slam Finals at 8pm (doors open at 7). I love the Festival’s description of this event, which reads: “A smackdown between London Poetry Slam’s top 13 poets, to determine who will represent London at Spoken Word Canada. Followed by an afterparty featuring DJ Media Frenzy.”

A certain TNQ staffer extraordinaire will be in attendance (hint: it’s not me, but I would like to be–as an audience member only, of course!).
